HICKOK CENTER FOR BRAIN INJURY OPENS CENTER IN NEWARK

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 1, 2006 -- The Hickok Center for Brain Injury, Inc. has opened a satellite program site in Newark this month, located at 165 E. Union Street, Suite 206. The Hickok Center is a nonprofit agency founded in the late 1980’s and currently provides a place for adults that have sustained brain injuries and live in the in Rochester area.

Brain Injuries happen as a result of motor vehicle accidents, falls, strokes and other internal or external injuries to the brain that happen after birth. The model used for the center is one where members work in every aspect of the Center operation and is one of only a few in the country. The Newark program will provide a Center for adult survivors in the Wayne County area.

Members design and direct the program that allows them to select and participate in social, prevocational and recreational activities which enhance and support their full potential.
