-Establishing and periodically reviewing the organization's mission and purpose. 

-Developing and approving the organization's strategic plan, which outlines the long-term goals and objectives. 

-Establishing policies that guide the organization's operations and ensure alignment with its mission. 

-Overseeing the organization's programs and activities to ensure they align with the mission and are effective. 

-Engaging in fundraising activities and supporting the organization's financial sustainability. 

-Ensuring the organization adheres to all applicable laws and regulations.  

-Approving the budget, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring financial stability. 

-Hiring, evaluating, and supporting the executive director. 

 -Identifying and mitigating potential risks to the organization. 

 -Ensuring the organization operates ethically and with integrity. 

-Representing the organization to the community and advocating for its mission.  

-Duty of Care: Acting with the diligence and prudence that a reasonable person would exercise in similar circumstances.

-Duty of Loyalty: Acting in the best interests of the organization, without personal gain.

-Duty of Obedience: Ensuring the organization complies with all applicable laws

-Meetings are held monthly.

-Meetings are held via zoom (in person as needed).

-Commit to attending and participating in scheduled BOD meetings to fulfill responsibilities listed above.

-Participate in Annual BOD Training

-Have a discussion or meeting with Kathryn Flanagan, our CEO, to see if your skills and experience match what we are looking for and to answer any questions you might have about your role, responsibilities, and the process.

-Fill out a volunteer application

-Sign off on Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Policies
